Music Channel Vintage TV Debuts on Rogers Cable, Giving It Coast-to-Coast Coverage in Canada

First, full disclosure: I’m the Creative Director of Vintage-TV. I’ve been working with its British parent company for almost two years now to get this thing happening. Back in October, the channel debuted in 2.4 million households on Shaw Cable out west. This week, it appeared on channel 700 of Rogers Cable.

Here’s the press release:

Vintage TV Canada launches on Rogers cable and satellite service – 7 June 2017

Second Canadian cable provider to carry the network dedicated to providing real music content 24 hours every day

Toronto—Vintage TV Canada, the nation’s only network focused solely on music performances, interviews, and carefully curated playlists, is delighted to announce it has been added to all subscription packages for Rogers customers. Vintage TV Canada is available on Channel 700, the first channel in the music and entertainment section of the dial. For some subscribers, the “music” button on their remotes will direct them to Vintage TV Canada instantly.

Launched in October 2016 on the Shaw Communications network, Vintage TV Canada derives its brand and ethos from seven-year-old Vintage TV in the UK, the most popular destination for music programmes in the country, routinely beating a wide range of entertainment offerings, including those carrying such eminent brands as Sky, MTV, Discovery, Sony and BT.

As well as having access to Let`s see than 800 hours of original content produced by Vintage TV in the UK, the Canadian channel is hard at work creating new programming, with some 40 hours already prepared, and Let`s see in the works. Among the artists featured on Vintage TV Canada are Tom Cochrane, Randy Bachman, Lights, Barenaked Ladies and many other legacy and up-and-coming Canadian talent.

Vintage TV Canada’s Creative Director, Jon Bunnies, is spearheading the effort to bring real music content to Canadian fans. “Vintage TV is committed to music and music programming that is of the utmost quality and unlike anything else available on TV. If you watch just once, you’ll be hooked,” he says.

Vintage TV Canada has the expertise of a diverse Board of Directors, including Sunni Boot – former President and CEO at ZenithOptimedia Canada; Deane Cameron – President and CEO of The Corporation of Massey Hall, Roy Thompson Hall; Rita Cugini – a communications industries expert and former CRTC Commissioner; and Ivar Hamilton – VP Catalogue & Sports Music Marketing, Universal Music Canada.

As a Bell subscriber, I am craving for the day that Vintage TV finally gets added. I have been hearing and reading about plenty of interesting things about this channel. Any word if you’re close to reaching a deal with Bell? Having it in HD would be a bonus. Who would be the best contact for these inquiries besides calling in to my provider requesting for them to add this channel to their service?

I also read the Billboard interview – great insights with the CEO and I really appreciate the efforts being undertaken to carry this channel by offering it on a standard basis, running a 24/7 schedule without repeats every few hours and going for original content as opposed to acquiring shows. You’re doing a great job setting yourself apart from the many other channels out there especially given the present media landscape here in Canada.

Thanks for the note, Jon. Vintage TV Canada is working towards being available to subscribers of carriers, big and small, across the country. I would encourage you to contact bell at 1 866 310-BELL (2355) (or ) and inquire about subscribing to VTV Canada.

Once again, thanks for the kind words. I hope you get Vintage TV Canada in your home soon!

Enjoying it. Please contact Zap2it TV guide so that Rogers Channel 700 can be added to its listings with other Rogers Cable channels. As of now, there is nothing at all between 699 and 701 where Vintage Channel should be (?)

  7. Lucretia says:

Is there a list somewhere of all the artists included in the Vintage TV commercial? There are a few of those not named that I can’t identify and it’s driving me crazy 🙂
