New book that collects Canadian album information and artwork in one place launches Indiegogo campaign

Mike Carr is an insanely big fan of Canadian music. Over the last few years, he’s been working on a labour of love: a book highlighting album artwork and information from hundreds of Canadian albums over the years.

Called Rock My World Canada, Mike describes the book this way:

The series is designed as a compilation of the history of each musician or band as shown by the studio album releases and a short biography. This issue contains over 900 musical acts and over 3000 album covers from Canada’s famous and not so famous musicians.

It’s like going to the record store without going to the record store! The goal is for you to discover something new as you view the pages, a musical act you might have never heard of, but for some reason, that album cover has piqued your interest.

For reasons beyond my comprehension, no Canadian publisher wants to help Mike out, so he’s so he can self-publish.

I’ve watched this book come together from the beginning and Mike’s done a great job. Once it’s published, it’ll be an invaluable resource to collectors and anyone into Canadian music.

Here’s a sample page.

If you can, throw a couple of bucks Mike’s way. And if you know of anyone who would like to partner on this project (a publisher, a sponsor, etc.) let me know and I’ll pass the information onto Mike.

How typically Canadian, oh it musn’t be that good, and who would buy a book about Canadian Music? I would, and lots of other people of a certain generation. Good luck to him, and I will happily donate for his project to come to fruition!

I’ve been collecting Canadian album information for years, but I’ve just put the info on wikipedia.
